Bangalore (July 11): Reinforcing its commitment to promoting sustainable livelihoods and building resilient communities, Rise Against Hunger India (RAHI) has recently supported 430 vulnerable families across the districts of Godda, Pakur and Dumka in Jharkhand, and Banka in Bihar to establish or expand income-generating enterprises that diversify household incomes and strengthen food and nutrition security.
The initiative is part of the organization’s broader efforts to ensure food and nutrition security by enabling vulnerable households’ capacity to have sustainable economic & livelihood opportunity
As part of the initiative, the beneficiaries received seed capital along with technical guidance and mentoring to establish or expand enterprises based on locally relevant business plans. The supported enterprises include poultry farming, goat rearing, piggery, dairy farming, grocery shops, tiffin centres, tailoring units, cosmetics stores, footwear businesses, tent house services, and welding and masonry tool kits.
“Creating resilient communities begins with creating opportunities for people to build sustainable livelihoods,” said Mr. Dola Mohapatra, Chief Executive Officer, Rise Against Hunger India. “Our approach goes beyond financial support. We work to strengthen the skills, confidence, and capacities of vulnerable families, particularly women, so they can build successful enterprises, diversify their sources of income, and become catalysts for change within their communities,” he added.
Through its livelihood programmes, Rise Against Hunger India works with vulnerable communities to strengthen local economies by promoting entrepreneurship, enhancing skills, supporting enterprise development, and creating pathways for long-term economic resilience and self-reliance.
Over the past decade, Rise Against Hunger India has served more than 40 million meals and reached 3.8 million people through its food security, nutrition, and livelihood programmes, working closely with grassroots organizations, rural communities, and humanitarian partners across India.
